S-01 · The Product

What is The Ledger?

A hardcover, undated 12-month life dashboard. Pre-formatted monthly spreads for habit tracking, daily highlights, day scoring, goals, gratitude, and review. The system creators like Olly, SwiftFilms, and Reysu already build by hand, in blank notebooks, every month, except we did the formatting for you.

Is The Ledger dated?

No. Start any month, any year. No wasted pages.

What's inside each month?

Each month gets 8 pages, in three types:

Life Dashboard: a two-page view of your whole month. Habit tracker, a daily highlight line, day score out of 5 (satisfaction).

Day Pages: for the evenings that need more than one line. A gratitude line, your wins for the day, and your key tasks for tomorrow.

Freeform Pages: blank dot-grid at the end of each month. Notes, lists, anything the structured pages don't cover.

At the back of the full Ledger, a Year-in-Review spread shows all 12 months of scores side by side.

What colors are available?

The Ledger comes in 5 colorways: Black, Navy, Charcoal, Brown, and Forest Green.

S-02 · Materials & Quality

Does it lay flat?

Yes. Thread-sewn lay-flat binding. The book opens completely flat at any page.

What's the cover material?

Hardcover with matte soft-touch finish.

What size is it?

A5 (148 x 210mm), 432 pages.

Will my pens bleed through?

No bleed-through with ballpoint, gel, or rollerball on the 100gsm cream/ivory paper. Not rated for fountain pens or heavy ink markers.

What if the binding fails or the cover warps?

If the binding fails, paper bleeds, or the cover warps within 12 months, send us a photo and your order number. We replace it free. Covers manufacturing defects, not wear from daily carry.

S-03 · Shipping & Orders

When does it ship?

The First Edition is in stock and ships within 7 to 10 working days, worldwide. You'll get tracking by email as soon as it leaves.

Where do you ship?

Ships worldwide from our overseas fulfilment partner. Shipping is $25 to your country, free over $200. Typically delivered in 7 to 10 business days. Duties and import taxes are already paid, so there is nothing to pay when your order arrives.

What's the return policy?

Every Ledger is covered by The Filled Month Guarantee. Email hello@ordinstudios.co within 90 days of delivery with the subject “Guarantee claim”, your order number, and a photo of one fully filled-out monthly dashboard. We reply within 2 business days and issue the refund. You keep the book. There are no physical returns and nothing to post back. Full details on the returns page.

Can I buy this as a gift?

Yes. The Ledger is undated, so it never goes stale waiting to be opened, and the cover is clean -- it doesn't read as a self-help gift. It ships in standard book packaging.

S-04 · The Method

Do I need to journal every day?

The daily commitment is under 2 minutes: log sleep, tick habits, write one highlight, score the day. The monthly review (last day of each month) takes 15-20 minutes. Missed days don't break anything.

How much time does this actually take per day?

Under 2 minutes in the evening: log sleep, tick habits, write one highlight, score the day. The monthly review at the end of each month takes 15-20 minutes. If you use it every night for a year, the total time investment is roughly 12-15 hours. Most people don't use it every night, and the monthly review still works.

What if I miss days?

Skip them. The system is built on monthly cycles, not daily streaks. The monthly review is where the value lives.

Can I customize the habits?

Yes. You choose your own 5-7 habits at the start of each month. Change them monthly based on what's working.

What if the system doesn't fit my life?

That's what The Filled Month Guarantee is for. Fill out one monthly dashboard, and if the system still isn't for you, email hello@ordinstudios.co within 90 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of that month. We reply within 2 business days and refund you in full. You keep the book. No forms, no interrogation.

What happens when I fill the Ledger up?

Each Ledger is one 12-month run. The Year-in-Review spread at the back closes the book. When it is full, you have a complete record -- and you can start the next one on the same day, any day.

S-05 · The System

Why not just use an app?

The phone is the problem, not the solution. A 2023 Frontiers in Psychology study found handwriting activates more brain areas than typing, improving retention and reflection. The Ledger is also distraction-free by design: no notifications, no feeds, nothing else to open.

Isn't this just a habit tracker?

No. The habit grid is about 20% of the spread. The full system includes daily highlights, day scoring, sleep tracking, life pillar ratings, monthly goals, gratitude, and a monthly reflection. It's a monthly life dashboard. Habit tracking is one column in it.

I don't know what to write. The blank page freezes me.

That's the problem pre-formatting solves. The Ledger doesn't ask you to write freely. Every field is already a question: what was today's highlight, what's your day out of 5, which habits did you hit, how did you sleep. You're answering prompts, not staring at empty paper. If you can fill in a form, you can use this.

Will this actually help with my sleep or anxiety?

Indirectly. The sleep log and monthly pillar scores surface patterns over weeks, so you can see what's actually dragging you down and what's lifting you. You can't change what you can't see. The Ledger is a diagnostic tool, not a treatment. If you're dealing with clinical anxiety or depression, see a professional and use this alongside, not instead.

Won't the same prompts every day get boring?

The daily fields are identical by design. That's what makes the data comparable month over month. If you want a new prompt every morning, The Ledger isn't the right product: try the Five Minute Journal or rotating prompt cards. The Ledger's value is consistency -- same measurements, different results you can actually compare.

I've tried journaling before and quit. Why would this be different?

Most journals fail because they demand daily pages. Daily pages create guilt. The Ledger asks for under 2 minutes per evening: one highlight, one score, a few habit ticks. The real commitment is a 15-minute monthly review. Low daily friction, high monthly payoff.

What if I'm not consistent or miss days?

Skip them. The system is monthly, not daily. You're building a monthly picture, not maintaining a streak. The monthly review at the end of each month is where the value actually lives. Missed days don't break anything.

What's the difference between this and a bullet journal?

Bullet journals are artistic, complex, daily-spread-based, and demand creative skill to set up. The Ledger is systematic, pre-formatted, and monthly. No daily spreads to design, no artistic ability required. The system is already printed. You just use it.

I already use Notion. Why would I use a paper journal too?

The Ledger isn't replacing Notion. It's the physical ritual that makes the digital system click. Use Notion for tasks and projects. Use The Ledger for reflection and tracking. A lot of people who run both say the analog piece is what actually holds the whole setup together.

How is this different from the Five Minute Journal?

The Five Minute Journal (by Intelligent Change) is a daily gratitude prompt book. The Ledger is a monthly life dashboard with scoring, habit tracking, goal setting, and review. Different product, different rhythm, different outcome.

How is this different from a Moleskine or Leuchtturm?

Those are blank. The Ledger is pre-formatted with the Life Dashboard system creators like Olly, SwiftFilms, and Reysu already build by hand, in blank notebooks, every month. You get the system printed, not an empty grid to figure out.

S-06 · Getting Started

What pen should I use?

Most everyday pens work well on the 100gsm paper: gel pens, ballpoints, and rollerballs. If you want a specific recommendation: the Uni Jetstream, Pentel EnerGel, and Muji gel pens all perform well on this paper stock.

I'm not really a journal person. Is this for me?

Most buyers aren't. The Ledger isn't an emotional diary -- you're not writing pages about your feelings. You're ticking habit boxes, writing a one-line highlight, scoring the day, and doing a 15-minute review once a month. The word "journal" is doing a lot of work here. Think dashboard, not diary.

Can I start mid-year?

Yes. The Ledger is undated. Start any month, any year. No wasted pages.

What do the life pillars mean?

Two related trackers use these: your monthly Goals (Health, Wealth, Mind, one line each) and your monthly Rating (Health, Wealth, Mindset, Relationships, Satisfaction, scored out of 5). The Year Review lays all twelve months of ratings side by side. The patterns tell you where your life is actually improving and where it's stalling. It's the clearest part of the monthly review.
